Shereen Shabnam

The Ritz-Carlton İstanbul recently reopened after investing 12 million USD into their whole property, including the renovation of 243 rooms, the ballrooms as well as other novelties throughout the hotel with the decor promoting Turkish heritage and culture.

I met with the recently appointed General Manager, Nicolas Kipper, in Dubai recently to talk about the renovations and how they will benefit visitors, his vision for the hotel, as well as the current luxury travel and hospitality trends.

Ritz Carlton hotels are known for exemplary service and luxurious comfort and with the renovations, Nicholas tells us the five-star Ritz-Carlton İstanbul takes this a step further and offers a magical journey that will take guests on a vacation that creates memories of a lifetime.

According to Nicholas, a unique selling point of the property is that it has breathtaking Bosphorus views and that the rooms, suites, conference halls and ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul boast a redesign inspired by the shapes and colors of historic Istanbul itself.

The new design and aesthetic of The Ritz Carlton, Istanbul evokes Turkish heritage and the county’s rich history, combines it with the modern approaches of luxury service and technology.

He also mentions that the rooms and suites are decorated with impressive and authentic local motifs, creating a contemporary impression. Guests can enjoy the country’s history while taking advantage of the advanced comfort, pure luxury and the legendary service, which has become synonymous with Ritz-Carlton during their stay in Istanbul.

Nicholas mentions that the hotel is located at the center of Istanbul, in the prestigious Dolmabahçe Palace area and is within walking distance of the city’s cultural attractions. The vibrant nightlife of Taksim and Karaköy, as well as the famous Galata Tower, are only a 15-minute stroll from the hotel, while Istanbul’s upscale shopping district Nişantaşı is a stone’s throw away.

In terms of services, Nicholas mentions that the hotel concierge provides guests with a variety of services including transportation to the nearby hot-spots in luxurious electrical cars, even offering a self-driving experience.

For the convenience of the Middle Eastern families who prefer travelling in groups, Nicholas highlights that the hotel offers a greater number of connecting rooms to give privacy for larger families, while corridors have also been redesigned to provide a ‘small flat’ feeling. Two top luxury suites come with thoughtful touches that indulge guests’ penchant for finer things.

Nicholas talks proudly of the hotels elegant restaurant, Atelier Real Food that offers a very rich brunch menu on Sundays. The menu features international fare along with traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, promising flavors that suit every taste. Live music plays during brunch, with the melodic piano accompanying the service. The hotel does not forget about its younger guests either.

Nicholas is particularly elated of the Bleu Lounge, a magnificent glass venue overlooking the Bosphorus, shisha service continues during the day. With all the positive and attractive features of the hotel, we know Nicholas has a winner when it comes to luxury hospitality in Istanbul and wish him the best in his role to highlight the best features of the hotel to the world.
